Hello there! Professionally, I’m a philosopher, and a teacher of academic writing. Personally, I am a horror fiction, travel, and theater enthusiast, among other things. I also have a strong interest in the history and politics of the two countries I now think of as ‘home.’

I was born in South Africa, where I spent most of my life until graduate school. The transition from Apartheid to a democratic government took place during my formative years and has had a lasting impact on my beliefs, values, and interests both within academia and in my life more broadly. After beginning my career in philosophy at the University of the Witwatersrand (affectionately, Wits—pronounced ‘vits’), I moved to Baltimore to pursue a PhD at the Johns Hopkins University. I received my doctorate in 2017, and have since taught expository writing and philosophy at Johns Hopkins and Georgetown University. During my time here, the people and city of Baltimore have become as dear to me as the people and city of Johannesburg.
